Questions for Solomon, “Fear and Recalcitrance”
1. How “self-enclosed” do you believe the emotion of fear is? Do you think there’s more internal factors at play than external influences?
2. What sort of “irrational” fears are present in your life? Did reading Solomon’s interpretation help you rethink them in any way?
3. Why do you think humans derive pleasure from some fearful experiences (e.g. bungee jumping), when fear would typically be considered a painful emotion?
